CELEBRITY GIST: Superstar Tennis Player Serena Williams is back to action. She returned to doing what she knows how to do best on March 8, appropiately on International Women’s Day.
The seasoned player, 36, who welcomed her daughter Alexis Ohanian on September 1st 2017 had not played in a tournament since she won 2017 Australian Open while in her early stage of pregnancy.
Here’s what Serena Williams said about her return via her Instagram page:
“It’s official. My comeback is this Thursday. I will start playing tennis again professionally for the first time since giving birth to my daughter.
This whole month, i am playing tournaments in California and Florida – both my home states. Thursday the day i play my very first match marks International Women’s Day. My come comeback could not have come on a better day and i decided i wanted something different (to) let you all be part of my long journey back (if you want of course).”
The Superstar continued:
“So i created my Serena Gold Toned ‘S’ pin when i am playing, you can wear it and show support not only for me but also for my Charity which supports the Yetunde Price Resource Center. I want this gold ‘S’ to mean something special to you personally. What is one ‘S’ word in your life that means something to you?. Mine is Strong and Sure. So when i wear my ‘S’ pin, i’m representing strength and Sureness…..” – @sirenawilliams.
A lot has changed for the tennis superstar in the past year. She gave birth to her daughter and endured a scary ordeal in the hospital after having an emergency C-Section that left her bed hidden for 6 weeks.
